I have always had some form of dancing in my
life, always loved to entertain and make people
laugh and forget about their troubles for a little
while.
My
husband (now retired) was an Officer in the U.S. Air
Force, when we were transferred to Scott Air Force Base
in 2002. Shortly thereafter, I found a Country Line
Dancing group, and through that group I met Robert
Kennedy (aka: Handsome Rob) and his wife, Susan.
When my husband was deployed in 2004, Robert suggested I
check out clogging as another form of dance and
diversion. I went and watched a local clogging team
(Cadence in Shiloh, IL) and also watched Thunder &
Lightning perform at a Sheep Festival. Well, I
immediately fell in love with clogging - went out and
got my shoes that week and had the taps put on them. I
would dance for hours in my garage - like a woman
possessed! I was over the moon with my new love
- clogging!
When my husband returned, he turned our garage into a
dance studio -- complete with mirrors on the wall and a
great sound system! Robert & Susan, and others from
the team would come over and we’d clog in the garage and
out into the driveway for hours - I'm sure my neighbors
loved us!
There is nothing I like more than getting together for a
performance, a workshop, or a fun dance, catching up
with friends and, of course, making new friends.
